RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) – Last weekend’s first ever Ronceverte Food Truck Festival was a smashing success, with Edgar Avenue packed with people all day both Friday and Saturday.
There was no shortage of delicious treats, both sweet and savory, at the festival, and folks were able to enjoy everything from watermelon gazpacho to West Virginia-style hot dogs as they wandered Edgar Avenue in downtown Ronceverte in search of their next treat.
The Rolling Stove food truck owners announced on Facebook Sunday that they had smashed all of their previous food truck sales records over the weekend and are looking forward to returning to Ronceverte next year.
Luckily, hungry patrons won’t have to wait that long to celebrate all things delicious on wheels. The Ronceverte Food Truck Festival is happening all summer long, returning next on June 16 and 17, July 14 and 15 and then finally on Aug. 4 and 5.
“It exceeded our wildest expectations,” said Ronceverte Parks and Recreation Committee chair and event co-organizer Dan Withrow, who gave his highest compliments to co-organizer Alex DeGraff. “She is wise beyond her 19 years,” he said. DeGraff is a business owner in downtown Ronceverte who gives music lessons in a building she purchased on Main Street.
DeGraff and Withrow, who recently reopened The Sportsman tavern on Edgar Avenue with Mark Trent, are part of a contingent of civic-minded folks who are looking to revitalize the River City.
“This is just the beginning,” said Withrow.
