No stranger to Greenbrier West fans due to her athleticism in multiple sports and power hitting in softball, is sophomore Preslee Treadway. Treadway is an extremely skilled athlete that has six home runs this year which included a stretch where she hit three long balls in seven games. Treadway, also a good defensive player, has a strong throwing arm and is another critical piece of the Lady Cavaliers softball puzzle.
What head coach Tony Hinkle said:
“Preslee is a three-sport athlete and a true competitor that doesn’t like to lose at anything she does. She’s led us in batting average in both of her first two years. She’s a clutch hitter with two outs and is leading the Coalfield Conference in home runs. She has such a beautiful, strong swing that hitting coaches dream about. We moved her to shortstop this year which has made her learn a new position, but it’s worked out well. She’s a great teammate.”
WVDN: What position do you play?
Treadway: Third base and shortstop
WVDN: What’s your favorite thing about softball?
Treadway: My favorite thing about softball is the team. Our team has great history and we all get along so well. Everybody has a great time.
WVDN: Favorite Band/artist?
Treadway: My favorite artist is definitely Zach Bryan
WVDN: Favorite song?
Treadway: My favorite song is heavy eyes, by Zach Bryan
WVDN: Favorite movie?
Treadway: I don’t really have a favorite movie, but my favorite show Outer Banks
WVDN: Favorite softball memory up to this point?
Treadway: My favorite softball memory would have to be Michaela trying to teach some of the girls a line dance in the dugout.
WVDN: Favorite food?
Treadway: Would have to be the ACP from Mexican
WVDN: What’s it mean to you to be a part of the Gbr. West softball program?
Treadway: To be a part of the team that we have today means a lot to me. Our team has done nothing but work to get where we are today. And our coaches we have are phenomenal; they push us to do our absolute best all the time. Our coaches take time out of their day to make sure our field looks nice or if we lack confidence in something they are willing to come to the field and help us with anything, whether it’s our batting or fielding they want us to be our absolute best.
WVDN: How has your family impacted your career?
Treadway: My family has put a major impact on my sports. My dad has taken time out of his day to work with a few things that I was struggling with towards the beginning of the season out in the garage. And any game my family can make it to they are always there cheering not only me but my team on.
WVDN: What do you hope to accomplish in your last two years of high school?
Treadway: I wish to accomplish making it to states in my last years of playing high school ball. Along with breaking the small habits I have out on the field.
