Dakota Wilson Ward, 17, of Caldwell, WV, passed away tragically on Saturday, June 24, 2017, as a result of drowning.
Born March 11, 2000, at Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of Brian Wilson Ward and Melinda Dawn Dempsey DePriest and stepfather, James “J.C.” DePriest.
Dakota was going into his senior year at Greenbrier East High School in Fairlea, WV.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald “Jake” Fisher.
Including his parents, survivors are his maternal grandmother, Linda Dempsey and fiance, Tim Holliday, of Caldwell; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Patty Ward of Second Creek, WV; step-grandparents, Eddie and Lisa Rudisill of Pence Springs, WV; sister, Montana Leona LeRayne Donahue of Caldwell; aunts, Brenda Dempsey and fiance, Josh Holliday, of Caldwell, Carrie Williamson and husband, Thomas, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Donna Wykle and husband, Jeremy, of Hinton, WV; uncles, Justin Fisher of Caldwell and Marty Bittenger of Hinton; his companion, Kyle Baker, and her children, Zayuih and Payton; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 11 AM at the Morgan Funeral Home, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Freddie Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Community Cemetery, Second Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, June 27, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the funeral home to offset final expenses.
