Jamie Wayne Sexton, 37, of Covington, VA, went to sleep in death after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, October 29, 2016.
Jamie was born June 13, 1979, in Clifton Forge, VA, the son of Timothy Ray Sexton and Kathleen Marie McAlister Sexton.
A lifetime resident of the Covington community, he was employed as a food runner by The Forum Restaurant at The Greenbrier hotel. Jamie loved the outdoors, the mountains, and hunting. He enjoyed playing paintball and online video games, as well as reading books.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Jeremy Sexton and girlfriend, Courtney Paxton, of Covington and Timothy DeWayne Sexton and wife, Jessica, of Columbia, SC; his sister, Jeanne Rose and husband, Brian, of Stuarts Draft, VA; his grandmothers, Vernie Boone Sexton of Covington and Audrey Wiley of Covington; his aunts, Brenda Sexton, Rae Willis and husband, Timmy, and Christy Wiley and husband, David; his uncles, Jim McAlister, Alan Wiley, and Milton Wiley; a special niece whom he loved so much, Leah Rose; a number of cousins; special friend, Vicky Dean, of White Sulphur Springs, WV; and his beloved dog, Zeus.
Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester Sexton, Richard and Jean Mize McAlister, and Nace Wiley; and a number of aunts and an uncle.
In accordance with his wishes, Jamie was cremated.
The family will receive their friends at 6 PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, with a memorial service being conducted at 7 PM from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home in Covington with Elder Robert Hayward officiating.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
