Please vote for the WV Daily News Greenbrier East and Greenbrier West Diamond Players of the Week for the week of April 1-6. Two players from each team in the county (GE baseball, GE softball, GW baseball, and GW softball) are all listed together. We will take the top vote getter from each school and announce the winners on Monday nights (time may vary week-to-week). Again, there will be a winner from each school. Voting this week closes Monday, April 8, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
Note***- Several games canceled this week due to weather. Greenbrier West boys did not play, thus the reason no Cavs are listed for baseball.
NOMINEES:
Gavin Bennett (GE) In 4 games (2-2), he hit .533 with a HR, 8 RBIs, and 4 runs scored. Also had 9 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.
Gabe Patton (GE)- Scored 3 runs and drove in 3. 3-5 in win at Hurricane. Pitched the win against Woodrow with 5 Ks in 7 innings and just 1 ER.
Kayla Bartley (GE)- Only one game for East this week, a 2-0 loss to Lincoln County. Bartley had 1 hit at the plate and 12 strikeouts on the mound. She did not allow an earned run.
Aly Martin (GE)- In the Lincoln County loss, East had just two hits on the day. Martin had one of them.
Brooke Patterson (GW)- hit .500 in a 4-1 week for the Lady Cavs. Also had 4 doubles, scored 7 runs, and drove in 6.
Brilee Redden (GW)- At the plate, she hit .363 with 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored. On the mound, had 22 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched.
