Bonnie Dale Sweet Owens, 80, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Destiny House in Lynchburg after a long struggle and illness.
Born December 27, 1935, in Cordova, WV, she was the daughter of Fred and Florencie Alder Workman.
Bonnie was a 1954 graduate of Renick High School in Renick, WV, and went to work in Lewisburg, WV, where she spent most of her life. She retired from the Greenbrier County school system as a cook and was a member of the American Legion Post 169 Auxiliary, where she was president.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Sweet; husbands, Emory Sweet and Merle Owens; and brothers, Major Charlie Workman, William Workman, and Fred Allen Workman.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Pamela Sweet of Bealeton, VA; grandsons, Tommy Kenny and David Kenny of Bealeton; granddaughter, Crystal Raley of Woodbridge, VA; great-granddaughters, Autumn Raley and Saffron Lemon of Woodbridge; sisters, Anna Belle Antonson of Lewisburg and Jearldine Sydenstricker of Willoughby, OH; and brothers, Steve Workman of Amelia, OH, Delmas Workman of Lewisburg, and Marvin Workman of Rustburg, PA.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 29, at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Frankford, WV, with Pastor Marshall Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
