Betty Alene Loudermilk, 76, of Clintonville, WV, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home in Fairlea, WV.
Born February 6, 1940, at Clintonville, she was a daughter of Roy Lee and Nettie Hanna Loudermilk and granddaughter of Harvey and Laura Bobbit and Jesse Oakley and Texie Shawver Hanna.
She was a member of James Chapel United Methodist Church in Clintonville since 1953; although she attended Judson Baptist Church in Belle, WV, for many years while living in the Kanawha Valley.
After graduation from Lewisburg High School in Lewisburg, WV, she attended Charleston College of Commerce in Charleston. She lived and worked in the Kanawha Valley. She retired from The Salvation Army, where she was secretary, bookkeeper, and financial manager for over 40 years.
She was a fun-loving sister and a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She loved spending time in Greenbrier County and was always ready for a challenge. She loved vacationing at the beach, softball, horseshoes, fishing, sledding, camping, and other family oriented activities. Sporting events were a passion, especially baseball games and horse racing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother-in-law, William Harvey; and nephews, baby Charles Loudermilk, Gary Harvey, and Dale Loudermilk.
Surviving family includes brothers, Paul Loudermilk and wife, Mary Catherine, and Louis Hartley Loudermilk and wife, Barbara; sisters, Ima Jean Harvey and Barbara “Bobbie” and husband, Howard “Slim” Johnson, all of Clintonville; and many nephews and nieces.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 2 PM at James Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Loudermilk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to James Chapel Cemetery Fund, 101 Shoestring Trail, Clintonville, WV 24931.
