Paul Spencer Flynn Sr., of Asheville, NC, formerly of Cullowhee, NC, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at an Asheville rest home.
A graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN, he received graduate degrees from the University of Virginia. Mr. Flynn had taught audio-video education at Western Carolina University.
During World War II, Mr. Flynn served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was retired from the U.S.A.F. Reserve with the rank of colonel.
Mr. Flynn was the of son Luther and Ada Spencer Flynn of Waynesboro, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen White Flynn; and daughter, Jennifer Flynn Rymell.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Flynn of Lincolnton, NC; son, Paul “Sandy” Spencer Flynn Jr. and wife, Margaret “Scotty” Flynn of Signal Mountain, TN; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Rymell of Asheville; grandchildren, Jessica Flynn Pogue and husband, Blake, Carson Flynn, Emily Rymell, and Michael Rymell; and great-grandsons, Connor and Nolan Pogue.
Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 11 AM at McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV. Burial will follow at the Arbovale Cemetery in Arbovale, WV.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Luther and Ada Flynn Education Scholarship Fund, West Virginia Wesleyan College, 59 College Avenue, Buckhannon, WV 26201, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
