Robert “Bob” Freeman Winfrey Sr., 75, of Rupert, WV, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, in the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV, following a sudden illness.
Born April 8, 1940, in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Ralph Freeman and Beulah Mae Hickman Winfrey.
Bob was a retired coal miner and an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time in the outdoors and with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack; and two grandsons, Chad Allen Fleeman and Justin Colten Winfrey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 35 years, Myrtle F. Winfrey; two sons, Robert F. Jr. and Scott and wife, Kim, all of Rupert; three daughters, Annette Fleeman and husband, Rick, of Lancaster, PA, Michelle Bennett and husband, Joey, of Danese, WV, and Melissa Winfrey and companion, Bryan Reeder, of Rupert; one brother, Harold of Princeton; two sisters, Phyllis Garner of St. Albans, WV, and Norma Smith of Abingdon, VA; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Smathers Funeral Chapel Inc. in Rainelle, WV, with Pastor Youel Altizer officiaiting. Burial will follow in the Winfrey Family Cemetery in Rupert.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 11, at the funeral home in Rainelle.
