Gary Holland Johnson Sr., 70, of Renick, WV, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.

Born December 9, 1944, in York, PA, he was the son of the late Barto and Betty Johnson.

Gary was a U.S. Army infantry veteran of the Vietnam era and was a pipefitter, welder, and plumber. He enjoyed fishing, and some will remember him from Blue Bend, Anthony, and Tuckahoe Lake.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hedrick Johnson; a son, Lyndon Baines “Tiger” Johnson; and a brother, Ronald Johnson.

Gary is survived by his children, David Hedrick of Red Lion, PA, Gary H. Johnson Jr. of North Carolina, Daniel “Spunky” Johnson of Renick, and Rebecca Johnson LaVigne of Lewisburg, WV; brothers, Dennis Johnson of Brogue, PA, and Joel Johnson of Wrightsville, PA; sisters, Joyce Horne and Cindy Grim, both of Red Lion, Judy Smith of Palmetto, FL, and Janene Kearney of Ellenton, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Martin of Texas, J.C. Fuller of California, Brittany Johnson of Ohio, LeiLani LaVigne of Lewisburg, and Alanna and Madeline Johnson of Renick; and great-grandchildren, Micah and Nora Martin of Texas.

Per Gary’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
