Virginia Gladys Pitsenbarger, 97, of Ronceverte, WV, departed this life for her eternal home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.

Virginia was born June 20, 1917, in Laurel Creek, Fayette County, WV, the daughter of the late Howard Joseph and Bertha Ellen Vance Alley.

Virginia was retired as the linen room supervisor at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital. She was a licensed minister of the Church of God, serving as minister of the First Church of God in Ronceverte for four and a half years and teaching Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Women of the First Church of God, holding various offices within. She helped for 28 years with ministry at The Brier Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dennis Pitsenbarger; brothers, Bill Alley, Cecil J. Alley, Albert Alley, and Sam Alley; sisters, Mary Alley, Nina Williams, and Bonnie Brackman.

Survivors include her son, Charles Lyn Pitsenbarger of Tennessee; grandson, Richard Pitsenbarger; and three great-grandchildren.

Virginia felt blessed by not only family members, but also by many members of her church, friends, and neighbors.

She looked to the Lord as her Shepherd and as evidenced by her favorite hymns, “Sheltered in the Arms of God” and “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand,” she relied on her heavenly Father for guidance, comfort, and strength. Proverbs 31:10 says a woman who fears the Lord is “far more precious than jewels,” and 31:30 “her works praise her in the gates.”

Mrs. Pitsenbarger’s funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, 2015, at 12 PM at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte with Pastor Gene Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Sam Black Church, WV.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, at the funeral home from 6-8 PM.

Send online condolences by visiting www.WallaceandWallaceFH.com.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte is in charge of arrangements.
