Bobbie Lewis Westfall, 84, of Maxwelton, WV, formerly of Poca, WV, passed from this earth on Tuesday, December 23, 2014.
He was born January 9, 1930, the eldest son of Garland and Ethel Westfall of Nitro, WV, both deceased.
Mr. Westfall graduated from Nitro High School in 1947 and played “A” team varsity football. He obtained his diploma from the Charleston School of Commerce in 1949. Bob married Ann Williams in October 1947. Bob built three of the homes in which they lived and raised a family.
He went to work for Kroger and was a produce manager at age 19. Bob started working for Carbide in 1950 and went on to become a lab tech at Carbide’s Tech Center. He, along with his brother, Joe, started the business of Rock Branch Car Wash in 1968. Bob and his wife, Ann, sold their business in 1996 and retired to Maxwelton in 1997.
Bob loved to hunt and fish and had belonged to the Kanawha Valley Bow Hunters Association and the Bear Bow Hunters Club. Bob was also a licensed pilot and loved flying his Cessna planes. He was a great story teller and loved nature.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; and one brother, Billy E. Westfall.
He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Westfall McCoy of Sharpsburg, GA; his son, Wade Westfall of Lewisburg, WV; brothers, Jimmy Joe Westfall of Leesville, SC, and Garland Westfall of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Shane McCoy of Sandston, VA, Rex McCoy of Highland Springs, VA, Sara Trimmer of Sharpsburg, Dakota McCoy of Mocksville, NC, Dustin Westfall of Hazard, KY, and Amy Isom of South Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Alice and Audrey McCoy and Emma and Jack McCoy of Virginia, Annabell and Adeline Trimmer of Georgia, and Amy’s children, Stephen, Victoria, and Jonathan.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 2:30 PM at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, Cross Lanes, WV, with interment to follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 1 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
