Avis Ray Spence, 82, of Alderson, WV, passed away at the ARH Summers County Hospital on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
He was born June 20, 1932, the son of the late Lealon and Anna McClung Spence.
He attended the Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Spring, WV. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Alderson VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Spence and Herman Spence.
He is survived by a brother, Lee Spence and wife, Carol, of Sinks Grove, WV; and special friend, Mary Clay of Alderson.
His body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at the Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 2 PM with the Rev. Jon Hunt officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
