Michael William Vance, 55, of Ronceverte, WV, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at his residence with his family by his side.

Mike was born March 21, 1959, in Ronceverte, son of the late George “Doodle” and Carolyn Shope Vance.

He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and has worked at Bluegrass Electric and B.A. Mullican Lumber Company.

Surviving are his companion, Rose Gragg; son, Jeremy Vance and wife, Autumn, of Jane Lew, WV; daughters, Kagney Shockley and husband, Travis, of Organ Cave, WV, and Sabrina Bryant and husband, Seth, of Ronceverte; stepdaughter, Emily Simmons and husband, Timothy, of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Chloe, Adalie, Kylie-Rae, Jayden, Ryker, Addison, and Carson; sister, Paula Hall and husband, Tony, of Fairlea, WV; brother, Henry Saylor of Ronceverte; two aunts, Martha Wiekle (Marvin) of Caldwell and Gladys Wikle of Rock Camp, WV; an uncle, Robert Shope (Linda) of Ronceverte; and numerous cousins and friends.

A memorial service was conducted on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at the Highland Park Community Church with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating at 2 PM.

The family received their friends and relatives from 1 PM until time of the services at the church.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Highland Park Community Church, c/o Sadie Carter, RR2, Box 55B, Second Creek, WV 24974-9723.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte is in charge of arrangements.
