Mac A. Ray, 70, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte after an extended illness, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Ray was born January 20, 1944, in Baltimore, MD.

Mac attended Liberty Missionary Church in Ronceverte and was a member of many clubs and a contributor to many charitable organizations, both local and abroad.

Mr. Ray’s hobbies included studying woodworking and carpentry, fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed making his unique ideas come to life in his workshop and spending time with family and friends, especially Jim Rollinson and Roy Ridgeway.

By profession, Mac was a millwright. He retired from MeadWestvaco after 44 years of service in 2007. He was also what is called a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None.” Mac enjoyed a lifetime full of learning. He was always willing to lend a hand to any neighbor in need.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Ray; father, Mac Walter Ray; an infant sister, Ruby Pearl Ray; niece, Becky Ray; and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Cornelia Ray; brother, Gary Ray and wife, Clara, of White Sulphur Springs, WV; daughter, Carrie Ray Jones of Ronceverte; son, Walter Ray and wife, Heather, of Asbury, WV; niece, Teresa Ray and companion, John, of Quinwood, WV; granddaughters, Telia Jones and husband, Adam, of Ronceverte, Christiona Jones and husband, Chris, of Rainelle, WV, and Lindsey Ray of Asbury; grandson, Gavin Ray, also of Asbury; and great-grandchildren, Alicia and Christian of Rainelle.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte with the Revs. Donnie Weikle and Lewis Brooks officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte.

Visitation will begin at 12 PM.

Pallbearers will include Walter Ray, Michael Anderson, Roy Ridgeway, Jim Rollinson, Shawn Bittinger, and Robert Bittinger Jr.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, 502 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte, WV 24970.

Mac Ray was a very special man who touched the lives of many and will be missed and remembered by all.

Online condolences may be made by visiting www.WallaceandWallaceFH.com.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte is in charge of arrangements.
