Jimmie Ray Carter, 82, of Alderson, WV, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.
Mr. Carter was born September 3, 1931, in Summers County, WV, and was the son of the late Dove and Daisy Alderson Carter.
Jimmie was of the Protestant faith, was a retired electrical mechanic for the Metro in Washington, D.C., and was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 10 in Manassas, VA, and a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union #689 in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Shannon Carter and Dustin Keith Carter; brothers, Jessie, Leonard, and Marshall; and sisters, Zeola, Lucille, Gertrude, and Vera.
Surviving are his sons, Michael Todd Carter of Manassas, Bruce Carter of Winchester, VA, Linwood Bryce Carter of Manassas, William Brett Carter of Manassas, and James Brandon Carter of Bristow, VA; the mother of his children, Norma Ratliff Carter of Alderson; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Eskins and husband, Bill, and Naomie; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial Graveside service honoring Jimmie on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 11 AM at the Griffith’s Creek Cemetery near Alderson.
A gathering will follow the Graveside service from 12-1 PM at 300 South Monroe Street in Alderson.
