John “Chub” Clay III, 80, of Riverside Rest, WV, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Main Street Care in Hinton, WV, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born March 7, 1934, at Wolf Creek, WV, to the late John H. and Lucille Hines Clay. He attended Alderson schools.
Chub loved to go to auctions, flea markets, and was an old car enthusiast. He worked in the family business of repairing and refinishing antique furniture.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He is survived by aunts and numerous cousins.
In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 7 PM at McCraw Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisburg, WV, with the Rev. Roger Persinger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Main Street Care (Activities Fund), P.O. Box 7, Hinton, WV 25951.
The family would like to thank Main Street Care staff for the wonderful, loving care shown to John while he was a resident.
