ABSHIRE
Jean Clark Abshire, age 92, a resident of Maryville, TN, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021. She was born in Mingo County, West Virginia.
Jean was the beloved wife of the late James F. Abshire; loving mother of David (Anna) Abshire of Cedar Lake, IN, Catherine Missal of Germantown, MD, Nancy (David) Norris of St. Charles, MO, and Janelle Stegall of Maryville, TN; adored grandmother of David (Carolyn) Abshire, Tim (Laura Carley) Abshire, Christy Mershon, April (Andy) Carlson, Angela (Glen) Mayers, Nicole Abshire, Patricia Jean Stegall, Hays Stegall, and preceded in death by Nathaniel Norris.
She is also the loving great-grandmother of Camryn Abshire, Aiden Abshire, Grace Abshire, Christian Mayers, Eddie Abshire, James Abshire, Matthew Mayers, Evelyn Jean Carlson, Caleb and Elliot Abshire.
She lived an amazing and accomplished life. Jean will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, wit, and kindness. She was a retired accountant and a gifted singer, dancer, pianist, and clarinetist. Throughout her life with her husband, James, they pioneered multiple churches throughout the Midwest. Her passion was in genealogical research and she wrote several books, one of which was displayed at the DAR in Washington, D.C.
She loved to read, listen to music, watch The Lawrence Welk Show and Shirley Temple movies, share amazing stories, and make pot roast for her family gatherings. Jean was a resource on all matters of medicine and health. She had a strong love for her family and country.
She cherished her grandmother, Lucy Clark, who helped raise her, and was a friend to many throughout her life. She was lovingly known as “Mom,” “Nana,” “Grams,” “Grandma,” and “GG,” and we miss her already.
