The town of Alderson is preparing for its municipal election coming up on June 8. The offices up for election include mayor, recorder and city council. Early voting will take place on two separate dates, May 29 and June 5. All voting will be at city hall located at 202 S Monroe Street, Alderson WV 24910.
According to current Town Recorder Betty Thomas, there are two parties within the town of Alderson, the People’s Party and the Citizens Party. Independent is also an option. The People’s Party is currently in the process of planning its nominating convention with a date to be announced. All nominating conventions must take place no later than February 19 and be certified.
All inquiries to be placed on the ballot as well as questions regarding the election must be directed to city hall by calling 304-445-2916.
Thomas indicated that there have currently been no inquiries into becoming a candidate. Anyone interested in serving their community in one of the open positions should call city hall today to begin the process.
