Barbara Kathleen Meadows Koontz, age 76, of Alderson, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2020 at her home in Alderson, following a long illness.

Born March 8, 1944 in Webster Springs, WV, she was the daughter of the late Barger Basil and Helen Kathleen Salisbury Meadows.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas William Koontz; a sister, Agnus Meadows; three brothers, Chester Boyd Meadows, Barger Basil Meadows, Jr., and Buford Meadows; and son-in-law, Charles Crouse.

Ms. Koontz was a homemaker. She was Baptist by faith and attended several churches in the area. She loved to garden, can food, and dance, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Matthew Koontz and his wife, Pamela, of Greenville, WV, and Jackie Lee Koontz of Talcott, WV; four daughters, Judy Kathleen Crouse and her companion, Wayne Perry, of Alderson, WV, Patricia Ann Waddell and her husband, Jeffrey Allen, of Ballard, WV, Barbara Jean Hoke of Peterstown, WV, and Vickie Gay Boyles of Peterstown, WV; one brother, Beecher John Meadows and his wife, Beth, of Talcott, WV; five sisters, Carolyn Huffman of Forest Hill, WV, Patricia Daughtery of Shady Spring, WV, Shirley Winfrey and her husband, Rick, of Williamsburg, WV, Anna Weikle of Talcott, WV, and Wilma Jean Fox of Williamsburg, WV; special friend, Sheri Lee Hall of Alderson, WV; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson, WV, with Pastor Allen Hilton officiating.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines will be observed, with masks and social distancing encouraged.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
