Gbr. Health Department Updates COVID Vaccine Waiting List

Published

on

The Greenbrier County Health Department is now taking the names of people 65+ years of age for a vaccine waiting list as of Friday, January 15, 2021, by calling 304-645-1787 or by emailing katherine.e.burns@wv.gov.

In a social post on Facebook, the Greenbrier County Health Department wrote, “If you have already sent your name and contact information to the health department by email, please do not call the office to be added to the waiting list. All emails are being processed and notifications will be made when appointments are available. Currently email is the best way to be added to the waiting list. We thank you for your continued patience as our staff continue to work diligently on contact tracing, vaccine dosing and management of a lengthy waiting list.”

Okay, so how does this information affect last night’s Jan 15 9:01 pm text from Greenbrier Emergency Management: Effective immediately, DO NOT call or email the Health Dept for a vaccine appt. A new hotline number will be available Jan 19th. The messaging from the Health Dept. has been inconsistent and contradictory. I think that the dept needs a better (clearer) up-front message when a person does call about Covid-19. None of this has been well thought out, IMHO.

I sent an email to Katherine Burns last week & she said she would add me to the list . Then this week I sent her a message asking about an update. She responded that she wasn’t taking wait list names any longer . I’m 78 & can’t get on a waitlist for Raleigh or Greenbrier County. Line is always busy or no longer taking names for waitlist. Shame on WV not developing a better system to give the vaccinations. I understand an online system Is being developed to schedule an appointment. Hope it works better than the ONE line telephone system.
