According to a statement released by Governor Jim Justice’s office on Sunday, Dec. 20, “This is the highest administration rate of any state in the nation.”
“While other states all around the nation are sitting around, trying to come up with a plan, we’re not waiting in West Virginia,” Justice said. “We’re getting it done.”
Despite the impressive early roll-out of the Pfizer vaccine, there were still 995 new cases of COVID-19 identified on Sunday, and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources recorded one additional death; that of a 93-year-old man from Wayne County.
The total number of deaths in West Virginia attributed to COVID-19 is 1,129.
