I would like to thank all the volunteers who make Penny Pitch possible each year. I would like to thank the Lewisburg Rotary Club; especially Cathey Sawyer for all of her help this year, the Eastern Greenbrier Jaycees, who have been conducting interviews since Penny Pitch began in 1967, The White Sulphur Springs Rotary club, the Rainelle Rotary club and the Smoot Ruritan club. Also thank you to the Greenbrier East football team who helps us load food boxes on delivery day and to Kelly Tuckwiller, at the State Fair of West Virginia for letting us use the facility to store our food boxes.
This has been a challenging year to make Penny Pitch happen, but we are getting there. If you have not shopped and were approved for Penny Pitch, Saturday, Dec. 12 is the last day to shop at Walmart. If you don’t know the amount you were approved for Walmart has the list and the amount.
I would also like to thank everyone who donates to Penny Pitch each year to help local families have Christmas for their children. This program would not exist if it wasn’t for caring generous people in our area. I’m thankful you have chosen Penny Pitch as your donation of choice. Your donation will be used to help local families in need. Yesterday while I was at Walmart paying for several families purchases, two mother’s approached me and told me how much they appreciated the help for their children for Christmas, that they were having a very hard time, not getting any hours at their jobs, and if it wasn’t for Penny Pitch they wouldn’t have Christmas for their children. All of your money goes back into our community, it supports local stores, who hire local people. Penny Pitch is neighbor helping neighbor.
We appreciate any donation no matter how small. They all help us to reach our goal. We need help to get there this year. We have a long way to go and only 14 days to reach the goal. Your donation is also tax deductible. Penny Pitch is a 501©3 organization. Please send your donation to Penny Pitch, P.O. Box 494, Lewisburg, W.V. 24901, or drop it by The West Virginia Daily News office at 188 Foster St. Lewisburg.
