A second deadly house fire occurred in Greenbrier County on Tuesday, December 8. The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police responded to the home on Flynn’s Creek Road, near Williamsburg, at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The Clintonville, Frankford, Williamsburg, Lewisburg, Ronceverte, Tri-County, Smoot, Rainelle and Fairlea Fire Departments also responded to the scene, as well as investigators from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The home was completely destroyed by the fire.
The fire has thus far resulted in five fatalities, with crews continuing the search for a possible sixth victim.
According to a statement released by Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan, “Investigators have developed a timeline and sequence of events leading up to the deaths. The investigation is continuing as evidence at the scene is being examined and processed. Specific details of the investigation, including the manner and cause of death, will not be released pending confirmation by the State Medical Examiner.”
