Carnegie Hall and Countrymen Communications are collaborating to provide high-speed internet to downtown Lewisburg and surrounding neighborhoods.
Carnegie Hall received approval for Countrymen Communications to put a small internet antenna and signal spreader on top of the building, which is one of the tallest in Lewisburg. The antenna will give Countrymen a line-of-sight link to its White Sulphur Springs antenna.
That link will give residents and businesses in downtown Lewisburg their first-ever access to Countrymen’s high-speed internet service.
Starting Thursday, Dec. 3, downtown Lewisburg businesses and residents will have access to Countrymen service if they have line-of-sight access to the antenna on top of Carnegie Hall. Those without line-of-sight access to the antenna will have access when Countrymen installs a signal spreader in January 2021.
As part of the partnership, Countrymen will provide free, high-speed internet to Carnegie Hall. The Hall has boosted its signal outside the building so that students and members of the community will have free Wi-Fi access on Carnegie Hall’s grounds, Church Street, and the surrounding area. Carnegie Hall has posted the internet password on the auditorium doors.
