The official holiday is underway, with less than a month to go to Christmas and to reach our goal for Penny Pitch. We’ve got a long ways to go.
If you ever want to know anything about Penny Pitch, or how the money you donate is spent, just ask anyone who helps with interviews. It is hard to put into words some of the situations families struggle with. Any interviewer will tell you how very much your donations are needed in our area.
Your donation will help to feed a local family and put a smile on a child’s face Christmas morning. A lot of the conditions these families live in would amaze you; you just have to see what’s really going on in our area for yourself. No one believes it until they conduct interviews. The people we help are very deserving of Penny Pitch’s help. That is why we interview every family to know just what their situation is like, and what we can do to help. We go by the interviewers comments on the application to get the complete picture.
I know a lot of families are having a hard time right now, but these families have applied for a reason. They have a hard time putting food on the table every day for their children. If you know a local school teacher in our area, ask them how many children there are in their classroom who need help. These children wonder every day if they will go home to an evening meal, or if they have heat and enough clothing to wear to school. The answer of how many children who live in this type of environment will surprise you.
When we do Penny Pitch interviews, we make sure every child in the family is included. We don’t want to leave any child in our area without something on Christmas morning.
We are working hard to reach our goal for this year, but we need your help. Please send your tax deductible donation to Penny Pitch, P.O. Box 494, Lewisburg, W.V. 24901 or you can drop it by The West Virginia Daily News office at 188 Foster St. Lewisburg, beside the Lewisburg Fire department.
