LEWISBURG (WVDN) – Fans and residents lined the streets of downtown Lewisburg on Thursday night, Nov. 10, to celebrate the Greenbrier East soccer state champions.
Spectators held signs and rang cowbells in support of the team.
Ashley Vickers, mother of player Dubya Vicker, took the mic early and had some fans and family of the players say a few words into the sound system that was hooked up in the city Greenspace.
The parade itself featured the East pep band, police cars, fire trucks, a float with siblings of the soccer players and the team themselves.
Before the parade concluded, Lewisburg Mayor Beverly White proclaimed the day of Nov. 10 to be Greenbrier East Spartan Soccer Day from this point forward.
The players signed autographs shortly thereafter.
The parade was a huge success and reiterated just how much this small community can come together and support something special like a state championship team.
