LEWISBURG (WVDN) – On Thursday, Sept.15, a car was reported stolen from across the street from The General Lewis Inn parked along Washington Street.

The owner of the silver 2016 Nissan Versa stated the theft occurred in the morning hours between 8 am and 9:20 a.m. Keys had been left in the car along with a purse.

Within two hours the vehicle was spotted on Brush Road in Lewisburg and the driver taken into custody. Jeffrey L. Hanna, 48, of Friars Hill in Greenbrier County cooperated with the officers to retrieve items from the vehicle that had been left elsewhere. An infant car seat was recovered on Friars Hill and the victim’s purse and wallet were found in a trash can, damaged by water, on Benedict Lane.

Besides the charge of car theft, Hannah also faces charges regarding destruction of personal property.
