SMITH
Carrington “Smitty” Allen Smith, age 57, of Bayard, IA, born August 10th, 1965 in Union, WV, formerly of Alderson, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, IA, following a sudden illness.
Smitty was a former heavy duty equipment operator that traveled across the U.S. for many years and was a member of Local 70 IBEW, Washington, D.C. Smitty loved to ride his Harley Davidson, “Rhonda”, had an extensive Biker family in several states, and loved bike trips with his buddies. He was loved by those who knew him. Smitty loved his children and adored his grandchildren.
Smitty had an amazing smile, “bodacious” long hair, and had a “chrome” beard. He loved to laugh, joke, flirt, kid around, and was the life of any gathering. Music was a big part of Smitty’s life. He loved to sing; spend time with friends; and enjoyed hunting and fishing; and collected knives, old limited edition coins, and most notably, had a large Harley Davidson memorabilia collection. Smitty kept every handwritten letter, birthday/holiday card, and every photo he was sent. He cherished his family. He attended Union High School in Union, WV.
Survivors include his children; one son, Joshua Smith of Westminster, MD; two daughters, Quintina Smith of Aspers, PA, and Jacquelynne Smith of Harrisburg, PA; four grandchildren, Alexandria Smith, Owen Conn, Riley Conn, and Aalayah Willis; his mother, Marcella Carter Smith of Alderson, WV; one sister, Michelle Smith Wilson and her husband, Steve, of Union, WV; one brother, Yellies Edward “Eddie” Smith, Jr. and his wife, Doris, of Brown City, MI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, the late Yellies Edward Smith; an infant sister, Cheryl Elaine Smith; paternal grandparents, Cleo and Nannie B. Smith; maternal grandparents, Issac “Ike” and Etta Pearl Carter; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel in Alderson, WV, with Pastor Dave Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Adkins Cemetery on Flat Mountain, Alderson, WV. Friends may call Friday, August 26, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, WV.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers are welcome, as well as financial contributions to help offset funeral costs.
