LEWISBURG (WVDN) – If you have ever attended a Greenbrier Valley Chorale concert and wished you could sing along, here’s your chance.
The chorale will hold auditions for its Christmas concert at Carnegie Hall, 611 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV, on Tuesday, Sept, 6, from 5:30-7 p.m.
The choir welcomes new members for all voice parts, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at Carnegie Hall beginning Sept. 13. The concert, which will feature both new and familiar holiday songs, will be held at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m.
Auditions are brief and private. No appointment is necessary, and you do not need to have a prepared piece. Some experience singing in a choir or playing a musical instrument is required. The director will listen for tone and range and conduct a short interview. Former members who have not sung with the group in two years or more should contact the director.
Singers come from all over Greenbrier County and adjacent counties in West Virginia and Virginia. Greenbrier Valley Chorale members range in age from advanced high school students to retirees. The artistic director is Barbara Wygal Lutz. Teresa Bryant is the accompanist, and concerts frequently feature guest instrumentalists.
