BECKLEY, W.Va. (WVDN) – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) participated on August 1, 2022, in a building dedication ceremony for Fruits of Labor’s new café location, their fourth, in Beckley, W.Va.

“Fruits of Labor is more than just a place to eat, it’s a second chance for people in recovery,” Senator Capito said. “Through its Communities of Healing training program, Tammy Jordan and the entire Fruits of Labor team aren’t just making a difference, they are truly saving lives. The close collaboration between local enterprises and entrepreneurs is providing a support system, training, and paycheck to those who have struggled with the disease of addiction. Fruits of Labor is helping combat the drug crisis right here in Appalachia, and I’m so pleased to be here today to see their expansion and growth with another location in Beckley.”

“I am deeply grateful for Senator Capito’s long standing support of Fruits of Labor’s recovery training programs and the ARC Power funding to facilitate the expansion into Beckley. Her attendance and words of encouragement during the building dedication are much appreciated. It takes everyone working together to see transformation in the lives of those suffering from substance use disorder,” Tammy Jordan, president of Fruits of Labor, said.

Fruits of Labor is a café and catering service based in Rainelle with additional locations in Alderson, Montgomery, and now Beckley. In addition to the restaurant, Fruits of Labor is also a social enterprise that accepts drug court participants and encourages their recovery through culinary and agricultural training programs.
