FAIRLEA (WVDN) – This week the State Fairgrounds home to about 200 motorhomes for the Great Eastern Area Rally.
Great Eastern Area Rallies (GEAR) is sponsored by FMCA’s Eastern Area Motorhome Association Inc. and the rally was held July 13-16.
This is the third year that GEAR has held the rally at the fairgrounds.
“People in the area are top notch!” said Chris Holtzman, Eastern Area Motorhome Association (EAMA) Southern Regional vice president.
The whole town has been very welcoming to GEAR, and that is why they like to come back, he said.
GEAR is planning to come back to West Virginia in October of 2023.
GEAR goes to Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C., the two Virginias, Kentucky, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. In each town they visit, they contribute to a local charity. Here, they will do a 50/50 raffle and will donate the proceeds to the local West Virginia Children’s Home Society.
