The first dog park in southern West Virginia is now open.
On Friday, July 8, community members and their furry friends gathered on Ronceverte Island Park to celebrate the grand opening of the town’s new dog park.
Located on the island next to the American Heritage Music Hall, the park offers a space for pups of all sizes to run and play.
Sen. Stephen Baldwin, there to assist with the ribbon cutting — and to let his dog run — said that something as valuable as a dog park is something everyone can get behind.
“One thing all West Virginians can agree on, is we love dogs,” he said.
Ronceverte Mayor Deena Pack congratulated dog park organizer Chris Rodriguez-Stanley, stating, “this is just the beginning of improvements at Island Park.”
