On Thursday evening, June 9, Trillium Performing Arts held their annual garden party behind the General Lewis Inn.
This year’s party was extra special, as it marked 40 years that the dance and movement theater has been present in the community.
Founded in 1982 by Beth White and Carli Marenek, Trillium has brought modern dance to the Greenbrier Valley through performances, workshops, and classes, training young dancers through their high school years and beyond.
Thursday’s garden party featured delicious hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, and a special performance honoring Eileen Kramer, a 107-year old dancer who lived in Lewisburg in the 1980s and ’90s, and who now resides in her native Australia.
Dancers Lorrie Monte, Hannah Keller, Ceili Allder, Alex DeGraff and Chloe Mansheim were joined by Marenek in a pastoral dance filled with hand-made masks and costumes as they performed a pastoral piece perfect for an evening garden.
