Summer festival season has just begun and already calendars are filled with events happening in the weeks and months ahead for you to enjoy. This weekend’s Ronceverte River Festival features new attractions, vendors, live performances, and fair food to fill up on all weekend.
As in year’s past, the main event at the 2022 Ronceverte River Festival is more than just great–it’s ducky! The Great Rubber Ducky Race happens on Saturday at 4 p.m. The duck tickets sales end at 3 p.m. Organizers expect to sell out this year because they only have 3,000 tickets, so they expect to sell out before the three o’clock deadline.
There are still a few ducks to purchase for the race. A single ticket can win you one of many prizes awarded including the grand prize of $5,000.
Event chairman Mark Mengel anticipates this year’s Ronceverte River Festival, with new attractions events and prizes, along with the popular mud bog, will have people flooding into Ronceverte.
Quantum Party Rentals will be bringing inflatables, and the Kent Family Circus is returning with shows throughout the weekend. The Fishing Derby is back, and signup begins Saturday morning at 7 a.m. Saturday also features the Pet Parade at 10 a.m.
Sunday features the return of a Worship Service and Gospel music. At 3 p.m. they present the traditional Children’s Games, and a visit from Darth Vader.
All the fun ends with a fantastic fireworks display at 10 p.m.
Second Annual Sensory Friendly Saturday
Sometimes things can get a little overwhelming. Saturday morning is set aside for those who prefer things a little bit quieter at the festival. Guests for Sensory Friendly Saturday are invited to join us for our schedule, or wander the park at their own pace. To be a part of the festival’s planned group tour, join them at the garden, “Jardin by the river”, at 10 a.m. to enjoy the beautiful flowers and a few small activities. From there we will proceed to the Pet Parade in progress, then on to the Circus and inflatables.
Thunder On The River – The Last Ride
2022 will see the final Mud Bog associated with the Ronceverte River Festival. For many years a Sunday Mud Bog has been a tradition during this event, but times and plans force changes. Thanks to the fantastic people at Hillbilly Hollow Motorsports, every year the Thunder On The River has increased in popularity and size, and they have outgrown the Island Park venue. Additionally, Ronceverte will be creating a long awaited Dog Park in the location currently used for the Mud Bog. We want to thank everyone for their support over the years, and hope to see you all one more time on June 12.
There are so many good vibes waiting to wash over you at the River Festival that it’s even possible to lose and still win. In fact, if your duck comes in last in the Rubber Ducky Race, you’ll win $100. So, if you’re the person who always says, “I have the worst luck,” this race might be for you.
Ducks for the race are still available to purchase for the race but they’re sure to sell out soon.
Ducky tickets are available in Ronceverte at Ronceverte Service Station, Corner Market, Tri County Produce, Darrell’s Factory Tire Outlet, Ronceverte City Hall, FooFur’s, Martin & Jones, People’s Bank, Sportsman, River City Signs and Tee’s, and Ronceverte Public Library.
In Monroe County: MOCO Shirts, The Barn Store, The New Pickaway Store.
In Pocahontas County: Buckeye Country Mart.
In Fairlea: Stop-In Shell, IGA, Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy, City National Bank in Kroger, The Loft, and Greenbrier Valley Outdoors.
