The Greenbrier East Spartans fell behind 6-0 early and could not muster a comeback in a 10-0 loss to George Washington on Tuesday, May 24, in game one of the Regional finals.
George Washington scored on a single by Isaac McCallister and a sacrifice fly by Kam Snyder in the first inning that put them up 2-0.
In the second, they added four more on a couple Spartan errors and an RBI base hit.
A single by Peyton DeHaven in the top of the third was the only hit for Greenbrier East.
Cameron Reed got the win for George Washington. Reed went five innings, allowed no runs on one hit and struck out four.
Darris Boswell took the loss for the Spartans. He allowed three hits and six runs over 1.1 innings, struck out two and walked one.
DeHaven went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Greenbrier East.
McCallister led George Washington with two hits in three at bats.
East hosts game two tonight, Wednesday, May 25. If the Spartans win, the series will come down to a decisive game three at George Washington on Thursday. If East loses game two, their 2022 campaign will come to an end.
