LEWISBURG (WVDN) – Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center has announced that they will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Celebration on Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the newly completed facility located at 896 Maplewood Avenue in Lewisburg, on the grounds of the State Fair of West Virginia. This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
“After 2 years of construction, and many more dreaming and developing the GVAC, we are proud to finally celebrate its completion with donors, members, and the community at large,” shared Founder and Board President TAG Galyean. “When the students and Greenbrier East High School started working on this project in 2015 we had no concept that would turn into the amazing facility we now call home. I know how proud those students, and everyone who helped make this project a reality, must be as we celebrate this grand opening.”
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will begin at approximately 2 p.m. outside the main entrance of the GVAC and will include remarks from Board Members, Staff, and others in the community who’ve played a role in its creation. After a brief ceremony is complete an open house will take place so that everyone has the chance to tour the facility, learn more about the amenities and programs, and explore membership and usage options.
Details on the GVAC Scholarship Program “Everybody Swims” will be available to ensure that all members of the community are able to enjoy and benefit regardless of their financial circumstances. Light refreshments will also be provided to those in attendance.
Upon completion of the ceremony GVAC staff, board members, and supporters will be available for comment and the facility will be open for photo and video. Those who wish to schedule an interview, or discuss other media requests, should contact Darcie McCraw, General Manager, at Darcie@gvaquaticcenter.com. All other questions regarding the ceremony may be directed to GVAC Board Member John Wilson at wilsonpllc@gmail.com.
