Ripley, (WV) – The inaugural WV Downtown BBQ Throwdown will be held April 22 and 23, 2022, in Ripley, WV. The barbecue festival, hosted by the Jackson County Hunting Heroes, will feature the WV State BBQ Championships sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society for pro cookers and backyard BBQ teams, as well as music, vendors, and family activities, including a BBQ tasting.
“The WV Downtown BBQ Throwdown promises festival fun for everyone. We hope BBQ cookers, military families, and the public will join us in April for this inaugural event,” said Frank Miller, who is helping to organize the event on behalf of the Jackson County Hunting Heroes. “We are planning to welcome over 30 pro and backyard BBQ teams, sponsors, and vendors and can’t wait for the public to participate in the event. In addition to the BBQ cook-off, arts, and crafts, and music, we will be hosting a BBQ tasting that will raise money for our programs that support veterans and military families. We are also offering attendees who are veterans, or currently serving by offering complimentary tasting tickets.”
Sponsored by the Jackson County Hunting Heroes, all proceeds from the event will be donated to support their programs honoring veterans and their families. Discounted advanced tickets and BBQ cook team registration are available at www.wvbbqthrowdown.com or at several local distribution points. Festival passes are $10 per person in advance. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. The event is also seeking volunteers and KCBS certified BBQ judges.
