The Alderson Town Council met three times outside of regular session in the past month or so, considering a demolition project, water rates, and more.
On Feb. 10, two special sessions were held. In the first, beginning at 7 p.m., council opened a public hearing on a demolition project.
“Region IV representatives Donna and Leslie were present virtually. [They] explained the funding for the upcoming demo projects listed. The comprehensive plan has been received and will be referenced in the application. It does not need to be put out for bid yet.”
The two addresses are 313 Monroe Street South and 38 Monroe Street South.
At 7:20 p.m., a second public hearing was called, focusing on the water development project.
“Region IV representative James Baker was present,” the minutes read. “The [Community Development Block Grant] funding was explained for the upcoming projects listed. The applications … could go six or more months, the total cost is $8,245,000. The estimated start date is February 2023 and will take approximately 12 months to complete.”
The third special meeting took place on Mar. 2, at 7:30 p.m., considering issues relating to the application for the Community Development Block Grant.
A citizen participation plan authorizing application filing and a fair housing plan were “simultaneously brought up for action.” All three were approved by a unanimous vote.
Each set of minutes were approved during the Thursday, Mar. 10, town council meeting.
The West Virginia Daily News did not receive any notification of special sessions until arriving at the typical council meeting on Feb. 10. Alderson meetings are typically physically posted outside Alderson Town Hall.
