The Greenbrier Community Care Corps (Care Corps) is seeking volunteers.
Care Corps is a local program that connects volunteers with people in the community needing help with nonmedical tasks. People eligible to receive services include Greenbrier County residents over age 60, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers who need help with nonmedical tasks and respite care.
The Care Corps is looking for volunteers who can provide nonmedical assistance like friendly companionship, grocery and medication pickup, household tasks, pet care, technology assistance and respite care. Virtual or no-contact volunteer activities are available for those concerned about COVID-19.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, attend an in-person or virtual training session and pass a background check. Volunteers can log into Care Corps and select opportunities that match their interests and available time.
“We recognize that some participants may need assistance getting registered, and we are happy to talk with them to get them started in the process,” says Misty Boggs, the Care Corps program manager.
The Care Corps is now accepting both volunteers and participants who would like to receive services. For more information on the program, call the Care Corps at 304-520-5945 or email gccc@osteo.wvsom.edu.
The program is funded by a grant from the United States Administration for Community Living. It is designed and managed by the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine’s Center for Rural and Community Health in partnership with the Greenbrier County Health Alliance.
