OAK HILL (WVDN) — The regular season is winding down for the Greenbrier Spartans and they seem to be peaking at just the right time.
After a huge home win over Greater Beckley Christian on Tuesday night, East hit the road to Oak Hill on Wednesday and defeated a very good Red Devils team 57-52.
The Spartans shot 60 percent from two-point range a night after using the 3-ball against Greater Beckley Christian when they hit 13 3-pointers on the night.
East (10-10) got to the basket at will at certain points of the game and scored a lot of layups.
East led 27-22 at halftime and used the free throw line to their advantage in the second half when they got there 18 times and converted on 12 of them.
Oak Hill coach Benitez Jackson had some praise for the Spartans after the game.
“Gabbert hit a couple threes (in the third quarter) and he was the primary focus of our scouting report. We knew he would make some shots and we let the Patton kid get two put backs,” Jackson told the New River Network.
Aaron Griffith and Goose Gabbert led the Spartans with 13 points each.
