CARTER
Noah Ivan Carter, age 79, of Alderson, passed away peacefully with his granddaughter, Alexa, by his side on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg. He was born August 29, 1942, in Yolyn, WV, a son of the late Isaac “Ike” and Etta Pearl (Lowe) Carter.
Noah graduated from Union High School in 1961, where he earned an induction into the Union Football Hall of Fame. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army National Guard. Noah proudly retired from the Monroe County Board of Education, where he worked as a mechanic. He was a devout member of the Mountain View Baptist Church on Flat Mountain, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Noah will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, working, fixing anything needing fixed, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Carter, of Alderson; his son, Lee Carter, of Alderson; his daughter, Tracy Carter, of White Sulphur Springs; his brothers, Glenn Carter and his wife, Cathy, of Sinks Grove and Dennis Carter and his wife, Ruby, of Alderson; his sisters, Marcella Smith, of Alderson and Judy Dent, of Peterstown; his grandchildren, Tori Hanna of Alderson, Alexandria Preston and her husband, Lucas, of Second Creek, Christopher Hanna and Jonathan Carter, both of Alderson, and Payton Carter, of Columbus, MS; his great-grandchildren, Noah Dozier, Mia Gilbert, Tanner Preston, Carly Preston, and Diana Carter; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Frances Arminta Hanna; and his brothers, Troy Carter and Delano Carter.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church on Flat Mountain in Alderson, with the Pastor James Combs officiating. Burial will follow at the Adkins Cemetery on Flat Mountain in Alderson. Friends may call Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church.
