The third blood drive will be held on Thursday, April 14 – also at the Monroe County public library. The blood drive will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m.
At all blood drives, the American Red Cross will be collecting both “standard blood” donations, as well as “power red” donations.
Standard blood donation: “The most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of ‘whole blood’ is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.”
Power red donation: “A Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.”
