On this Christmas Eve I would like to thank everyone who makes Penny Pitch happen each year. This program has been in the area since 1967, and we have kept it going all these years. A big Thank You to everyone who donated, every donation, large or small helps children in our area wake up to a toy under the Christmas tree and have warm winter clothing to wear, each of these families also receive a food box.
I would first like to thank City National Bank for helping to collect donations for the families of our community. I would also like to thank The West Virginia Daily News for continuing to run articles for Penny Pitch and the list of names of our loyal folks who donate every year. As I look at the list each day, I see a lot of the same names year after year. These are the loyal people who have helped us to continue this program. A child in the area will wake up to a toy on Christmas morning because of you. We are so grateful for the wonderful community we live in and for all the dedicated people who help families in our community who are struggling. A lot of our Penny Pitch families, both parents work, or they are single mothers, and they work jobs like fast food. They try, but there’s not enough money left to buy toys after they pay rent, utilities, and gas for their vehicle. We have added families as money became available this year. These families are so thankful when you call them to tell them Penny Pitch is going to help them. A single mother, I called said “God bless you all, I didn’t know what I was going to do”. Penny Pitch is neighbor helping neighbor, in our community.
We may not reach our goal this year, but we are trying hard. and every dime you have donated is going back in the community, to make Christmas miracles come true for local children. We could have helped another 40-50 families if we had the funds. There is a great need in our area.
I would once again like to thank all of the volunteers who spend endless hours, to make Penny Pitch happen each year, The West Virginia Daily News, Grands Home Furnishings, The State Fair, and Walmart for their assistance with the gift cards. It takes everyone working together to make this program work each year.
Thanks again for your support. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Judy Steele, Penny Pitch, President.
