Then, hang around for the Christmas parade which begins at 5pm. ° December 3 @ 12 p.m. – December 5 at 6 p.m. Fayetteville’s Gingerbread Festival, Event by Fayetteville, WV. Fayetteville gets all dolled up for the holidays celebrating with true small-town flair. Escape the hustle and bustle of the holidays and enjoy a getaway with your family. You can shop small and enjoy strolling around historic downtown as the town is transformed into a candy land with gingerbread decor throughout the town. Enjoy the Hansel & Gretel Trail with gingerbread-themed stops through the town. The Festivities kick-off on December 3rd with fun lined up throughout the whole weekend. Have breakfast with Santa at Cathedral Café. Enjoy more holiday shopping with the Fayetteville Woman’s Club’s Christmas Craft show with over 50 craft vendors. The Fayetteville Arts Coalition will be hosting a Holiday Sampler showcasing the many talented artists that call Fayetteville home. Watch Christmas characters come to life Saturday with Fayetteville’s Christmas Parade. Santa will be riding into town in style with the parade. Visit with Santa and his elves on Saturday and enjoy cookie decorating, a craft, caroling, story time, face painting, hot cocoa, write letters to Santa and much more! We will be hosting our 3rd Annual Gingerbread Decorating Contest. Gingerbread entries will be on display for voting during the festival. The Gingerbread contest is open to all ages and all skill levels. This class will cover the process of cultivating mushrooms indoors using the Bucket method! It will include everything you need material-wise (Mushroom Spawn, growing substrate, a modified 5 gallon food-grade container, micropore tape, educational materials, etc.) as well as step-by-step instruction in an intimate educational setting. Everyone will go home with their inoculated mushroom buckets to wait out the colonization process, and could be harvesting their own culinary medicine in about ONE MONTH. Practices are being held each Sunday evening at 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fairlea until the dates of the cantata performances (Dec. 18 at 8:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The Greenbrier and December 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist (Fairlea). As in the past, the cantata is under the direction of Jeff Bryant and will feature a live orchestra accompanying the choir.
