P. Irene (Schrӧedersecker) Highlander

P. Irene (Schrӧedersecker) Highlander, 81, of Alderson, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Born August 30, 1940 in Wartenberg-Rohrbach, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Christina Schrӧedersecker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman B. Highlander; son, Michael P. Highlander; brother, Adolph; and sister, Geta.

Irene was of the Christian Faith, homemaker, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She showed her love to those around her with her cooking. She loved her flower garden and gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Martina Highlander-Harvey and husband, Jerry of Alderson, Heidi Highlander-Via and husband, Darrell of Covington, VA, and Kelly Highlander of Secondcreek, WV; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Murphy and husband, Richard of Hardy, VA, Emily Averill of Covington, VA, Brycen Johnson of Lewisburg, Aidan Highlander of Alderson; one great-grandson, Staley Michael Lane Johnson of Bluefield; sisters, Mary Ann, Rosewitha, and Elke all of Germany; sister-in-law, Ursula, and brother-in-law, Clause both of Germany; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Lantz Funeral Home in Alderson with Pastor Randy Burdette officiating. Burial followed in the Alderson Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 3 until 4 p.m. at the Lantz Funeral Home in Alderson.
