The United Way of Southern West Virginia kicked off their 13th annual Wonderland of Trees display this past weekend at the Summit Bechtel National Family Scout Reserve Marriott Service Center in Glen Jean.
Thirty-six Christmas trees, decorated by local organizations, will be on display until a live auction on Nov. 19. Proceeds from the auction benefit the United Way.
This year, the Rainelle Medical Center has entered a Christmas tree themed “Candy Land.” In addition to the tree, which has an estimated value of $1,000, the person who makes the highest bid will receive all the toys and treats included in the display.
According to the Wonderland of Trees schedule found on the United Way website, there are four more chances to see the trees on display. The center is open to the public on Nov. 12-13 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Nov. 14 and 19 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The live auction begins at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19.
Several events are scheduled to take place as well, like decorating cookies with Mrs. Claus, a dance recital and a murder mystery dinner theatre.
