Raleigh County Trick-or-Treat times have been announced.
Raleigh County Commissioners stated during their regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 5, that Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours will be observed on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m.
In other county business, Detlef Ulfers, representing the Raleigh County Property Safety Agency Board, discussed the following property safety hearings:
– AB559 – Gary Wiseman (160 Shrewsberry Lane, Daniels). The house has been unoccupied for over 10 years. It has “all kinds of problems,” Ulfers stated. An order was made for the owner to demolish or repair the house to habitable conditions within 60 days.
– AB602 – Joe Tate & Betty Williams (4953 Lester Hwy, Hotchkiss). An order was made for the owner to demolish, remove vehicles and cut down vegetation within 30 days.
– AB622 – Ethel Workman c/o Robert Workman (1006 Upper Rock Creek Rd). This facility has burned and has become an eyesore and safety hazard, according to Ulfers. The owner has been ordered to demolish and cut overgrown vegetation within 60 days.
– AB625 – Edward Richmond EtAl (154 Union Hall Rd. Stanford). The owner has been in contact with Ulfers and asked for extra time to fix the roof on the structure and prepare for rental. The owner has been ordered to get the structure in habitable condition or demolish within 90 days.
– AB631 – Robert Ratliff (6404 Tams Hwy. Amigo). The owner was given 60 days to demolish and remove debris.
– AB641(a) – Gleada Thompson EtAl (357 & 359 Bailey Ave. Beckley) The owner has been ordered to clean waste and unsanitary conditions on the property in two weeks, or the county will clean the trash and place a lien on the property.
– AB641(b) – Mark Thompson (361 Bailey Ave, Beckley). The owner was given two weeks to remove trash from the property, or the county will remove the trash and place a lien on the property.
According to Ulfers, all the owners have been given notice.
Additionally, commissioners approved the following new employees for county positions:
– Micah Neff, appraiser, Assessor’s Office
– Emma Bowyer, full time records clerk, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department
– Debbie Trump, part time records clerk, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department
– Inetha Brown, full time janitor, Raleigh County Commission
Also, Gary Taylor was reappointed to his position as County Fire Chief for Raleigh County Property Safety Agency Board for a two-year term. The term ends on Oct. 5, 2023.
Commissioners approved a consideration in the amount of $250,000 in funding for the Eccles/Harper Sewer Project from the Crab Orchard MacArthur Public Service District and approved a consideration in the amount of $3,500 for broadband internet study to determine unserved and underserved areas of Raleigh County.
The next meeting of the Raleigh County Commission is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m.
