Local bank branches have undergone a transformation over the past week, as Peoples Bank, based in Marietta, Ohio has completed a merger with both Premier Bank and Citizens Deposit Bank.

In a statement released by People’s Bank last week, it was announced that “The acquisition became effective as of the close of business on September 17, 2021. People’s and Premier first announced that they had entered into an agreement to merge on March 29, 2021.”

While speaking with The West Virginia Daily News on Monday, People’s Bank CEO Chuck Sulerzyski said, “We bring a broader array of products and services, and specifically we bring investment capability with brokerage services and trust services. We bring insurance to our customers, and we bring a much higher level of lending. We’re able to offer loans of up to $30 million, so we bring much more capital into the community.”

When asked what People’s Bank’s newest customers can expect, Sulerzyski said, “Our focus is really on the client experience. To put that in perspective, Forbes Magazine names the best five banks in each state based upon client experience, and we are one of 16 banks in the United States to come in the top five in more than one state, and we were the smallest bank to do that. We were number two in West Virginia, and number two in Ohio. We work very hard to make sure our customers are happy, and we work very hard to make sure our employees enjoy working here.”

People’s Bank also has a strong track record of generosity through financial donations, as well as donations of time within the communities they serve. People’s Bank also offers comprehensive online banking to every customer, including online bill payments, the ability to transfer money between accounts, Zelle, mortgage applications and insurance management.

Through the merger, People’s Bank has acquired 23 locations across West Virginia, including branches in Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs. To learn more about People’s Bank, and their acquisition of Premier Bank and Citizens Deposit Bank, visit pebo.com.
