CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey issued the following statement on the passing of Frank Giardina, a longtime West Virginia broadcaster, former Marshall University athletics administrator and former member of the Attorney General’s Office.
Frank Giardina was a remarkable West Virginian, and I was fortunate to know him and work alongside him during my time as Attorney General.
Frank had a deep Christian faith and a gift for connecting with people. Whether behind the microphone calling Marshall games, working with student-athletes or serving the people of West Virginia, he made a lasting impression on those around him.
One of the many memories I recall fondly is traveling with Frank and hearing him regale me with stories about the sports legends in every county we visited. He was such a good man, and he loved our state so, so much.
Denise and I join Frank’s many friends and admirers in mourning his passing. His contributions to West Virginia and the lives he touched will not be forgotten. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones.
